Trump Taps Retired General Keith Kellogg as Special Envoy for Ukraine-Russia Relations

President-elect Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he has selected retired three-star general Keith Kellogg to serve as special envoy for Ukraine and Russia. Kellogg, who has been a trusted advisor to Trump on defense matters, will now take on the role of managing the increasingly complex conflict between the two nations.

In a post on his Truth Social platform, Trump highlighted Kellogg’s loyalty, stating, “He was with me right from the beginning! Together, we will secure PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH, and Make America, and the World, SAFE AGAIN!”

Kellogg, who served as National Security Advisor to Vice President Mike Pence and briefly as Acting National Security Advisor to President Trump, is a key figure in shaping U.S. defense policy. As special envoy, Kellogg will be tasked with navigating the war in Ukraine, which has escalated since Russia’s 2022 invasion. Trump, who has been critical of President Biden’s support for Ukraine, has suggested he could end the war quickly, potentially by pressuring Ukraine to cede territory to Russia.

Kellogg’s appointment reflects his strong conservative stance on foreign policy. He has argued that resolving the Russia-Ukraine conflict will require “America First” leadership to broker a peace agreement. His views on the matter are detailed in the policy book of the American First Policy Institute, where he serves as co-chairman. With the war entering its third year, Kellogg’s leadership is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping U.S. strategy moving forward.
