TikTok has rolled out its in-app shopping feature, TikTok Shop, in Spain and Ireland. This launch marks the company’s first step toward expanding e-commerce services across Europe. Users can now purchase products directly through the app and interact with businesses and creators in real time.
New Opportunities for Local Sellers
For now, only businesses based in Spain and Ireland can sell products on TikTok Shop. Available items range from electric fryers to health supplements, with prices between €3 ($3.16) and €60. TikTok hopes to merge shopping with entertainment, making it easier for users to shop while scrolling through content.
The platform reports that 20 million people use TikTok in Spain every month. To ensure secure transactions, the company partners with trusted third-party payment services.
TikTok also plans to expand its shopping service to France, Germany, and Italy. This European growth helps ByteDance, TikTok’s Chinese parent company, explore new markets. The expansion comes as ByteDance faces pressure to divest its US operations to avoid potential bans.
