Survivors described the chaos as the ski lift failed. María Moreno, one of the passengers, shared her experience: “We heard a loud noise, and the chair suddenly dropped to the ground. It bounced several times, leaving some of us hurt. Others fell from their seats.”
Moreno noted that several people appeared severely injured because parts of the collapsing lift struck them directly. Another witness described how chairs started shaking violently after what seemed like a snapped cable, sending passengers into the air. Emergency crews responded swiftly, deploying five helicopters, 14 ambulances, and a mobile medical unit to the scene.
