Jake Paul vs. Mike Tyson Breaks Streaming Records on Netflix

The highly anticipated boxing match between Jake Paul and Mike Tyson made history, becoming the “most-streamed sporting event ever,” according to Netflix. The event, which took place last Friday, drew an astounding 108 million global viewers, setting a new streaming benchmark.

The live broadcast, from AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, saw a peak of 65 million concurrent viewers in the United States alone. During the window between 12 a.m. and 1 a.m. ET, the fight captivated an estimated 56% of all TV viewers in the country, Netflix reported.

The co-main event, a rematch between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano, also shattered records, attracting 74 million viewers worldwide. This marked the fight as the “most-watched professional women’s sports event in U.S. history.”

Record-Breaking Viewership and Global Popularity

Jake Paul emerged victorious, defeating Mike Tyson by unanimous decision. The broadcast topped the Netflix charts, not only in the U.S. but across 78 countries, including Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Germany, and India.

Despite the record-breaking viewership, some Netflix users faced technical issues, including buffering and problems with screen and audio quality. The streaming platform has acknowledged these concerns and plans to improve the experience for future live sports events.

Looking ahead, Netflix is preparing to stream an NFL doubleheader on Christmas Day, featuring the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans, with a special halftime performance by Beyoncé.
