As the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 finale nears, fans across Europe are buzzing about three standout entries. Sweden, Austria, and Ukraine are capturing attention with songs that blend fun, emotion, and powerful stories. The final takes place tonight in Basel, where 26 countries will compete for the coveted title. Betting odds suggest a tight race, with Sweden currently leading.

Sweden Brings Sauna Beats and Laughter

Sweden has taken a bold and fun turn this year with the song “Bara Bada Bastu” by the comedy trio KAJ. The title translates to “Just Bathe in the Sauna”, and the performance is full of energy and humour.

The group performs in towels, backed by dancers who shout “sauna!” over catchy folk beats. The song mixes old-school charm with new-age fun. It’s a far cry from Sweden’s usual polished pop acts, but the gamble may be paying off.

With 40% win probability, according to current betting platforms, Sweden is the top favourite to win Eurovision 2025. The song has gone viral on social media, especially on TikTok, where fans are recreating the quirky dance moves.

“We wanted to show that music can be joyful and silly – but still bring people together,” KAJ said in a pre-show interview.

Austria Bets on High Drama and High Notes

Austria’s entry is a stunning vocal showcase. Countertenor JJ performs “Wasted Love”, a dramatic song that blends opera, pop, and EDM into one powerful act.

The song starts quietly, with soft piano notes. Then JJ’s falsetto rises, building into a full dance anthem with pulsing beats and theatrical lighting. His voice ranges over three octaves, making this one of the most technically demanding performances of the night.

Austria currently holds 22% win odds, placing it among the top contenders. Eurovision fans are drawing comparisons to Conchita Wurst’s 2014 victory, another emotional performance that made headlines worldwide.

Music critic Anna Keller called it “a performance that brings chills – it’s both modern and timeless.”

Ukraine Sings of War, Loss, and Hope

Ukraine’s entry may be the most emotional of the night. The band Ziferblat performs “Bird of Pray”, a dark and moving song that combines traditional Ukrainian chants with orchestral rock.

The lyrics speak of pain, strength, and dreams of peace. Some of the band members have lived through real wartime loss, giving their performance deep emotional weight.

The stage design features black feathers, fire visuals, and moments of still silence. It’s not just a song – it’s a story of survival.

“We sing for those who can’t. For our families, our home, our future,” Ziferblat said during rehearsals.

Though not the odds-on favourite, Ukraine is widely praised and may win the jury vote for artistic and political impact.

A Night of Meaning and Music

This year’s Eurovision offers more than just music. From comedy in the sauna to operatic heartbreak to songs of resistance, the 2025 contest is a reminder of how powerful live performance can be.

With 26 countries taking the stage, millions will tune in to watch the finale unfold in Basel. The event promises laughter, emotion, and surprises — and only one country will take home the title.

Eurovision 2025 is shaping up to be a night to remember. Whether Sweden’s fun act wins the crowd, Austria’s vocals take the prize, or Ukraine’s story touches the jury, one thing is clear: this year’s songs carry more than just a tune — they carry a message.
