On Wednesday morning, former President Donald Trump praised Tesla CEO Elon Musk as he edged closer to a return to the White House.
“We have a new star, a star is born,” Trump told an enthusiastic crowd in West Palm Beach, Florida. “Elon. He’s an amazing guy.”
Trump highlighted Musk’s support in Pennsylvania, where Musk, one of the world’s wealthiest individuals, spent over $130 million to aid Trump and other Republicans. Musk announced Tuesday night that his super PAC, America PAC, would continue its work after the election.
By around 2:30 a.m. ET, Trump was nearing victory after several networks projected him as the winner of Pennsylvania, a critical swing state, effectively blocking Vice President Kamala Harris’s path to the presidency.
Joining Trump on stage, GOP vice-presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance hailed Trump’s campaign as “the greatest political comeback in American history.” Having left office after the Capitol riot, Trump is now on the verge of becoming only the second president in U.S. history to lose and later reclaim the White House.
Trump also expressed confidence that Republicans would retain control of the House of Representatives, though no official projections had confirmed this. House Speaker Mike Johnson, whom Trump commended as “doing a great job,” also joined him onstage.
“He turned out to be a good choice,” Trump said, speaking of Vance. “I took a little heat at first, but I knew his mind was as sharp as it gets.”
Trump concluded by urging the nation to “put aside the divisions of the last four years” and pledged to fulfill his campaign promises.
