Usha Vance, wife of U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance, will visit Greenland this week with her son and a U.S. delegation.

According to the White House, she will explore historical sites, learn about local traditions, and attend the Sisimiut dog sled race. The visit begins Thursday in Nuuk and ends Saturday.

Reports suggest Trump’s national security adviser Mike Waltz may join the trip. However, Greenlandic and Danish officials declined formal meetings.

Greenland Pushes Back Against U.S. Influence

President Donald Trump has repeatedly expressed interest in gaining control over Greenland, citing national and international security concerns.

Earlier this year, his son Donald Trump Jr. made a one-day visit to Nuuk. These actions have sparked protests across Greenland.

Citizens and politicians alike have firmly rejected the idea of becoming U.S. territory. Demonstrations occurred just days before the upcoming local elections.

    Tensions Rise During Political Transition

Greenland is currently forming a new government after recent parliamentary elections. Municipal elections are also scheduled for April 1.

Greenlandic MP Aaja Chemnitz criticized the U.S. visits, saying they undermine Greenland’s right to self-determination.

“The Trump camp clearly shows no respect for our autonomy,” she stated on Facebook. Political leaders remain distant and uninterested in foreign influence.
